Rockets From China

Its unclear when the first true rockets appeared. Stories of early rocket related devices appear in historical records of some different cultures. Maybe the first true rockets were just accidents. In the first century A.D., the Chinese had created a simple form of gunpowder made from saltpeter, sulfur, and charcoal dust. To create explosions during religious festivals , they filled bamboo tubes with a mixture and tossed them into fires. Maybe some of the tubes failed to explode and propelled into the skies by the gases created by the mixture of chemicals in the tube at the time. In the time of war they attached gunpowder filled bamboo to arrows and launched them, and then they realized that the gunpowder tubes could launch themselves by the power produced from the escaping gas. And that was when the true rocket was born.

Rockets From India

In the late 18th century , England was losing American colonies, and England was very determined to expand there empire. So they began a conquest of India, who was far weaker than them. In 1780, British invaded Mysore, ruled by raja, Hyder Ali. But the British did not know that a inventor working for the raja had been developing a new kind of rocket. Instead of using cardboard; which could only be used to make small rockets, they used metal which they created monster size rockets. These were 12 pounds, using bamboo poles for stability that were 10 feet long and could fly a half a mile.  When the British non-flinching troops arrived, they were quite surprised to have a barrage of rockets launched at them and fled in terror.
