A First-Timer’s Guide to Day Camp

Learning about Day Camp & Setting Expectations

The guide to day camp starts with understanding what day camp is, and how to best get ready for it. Day camp means that campers arrive in the morning and head home in the afternoon, as opposed to overnight camp where campers stay overnight for the whole session. However, this doesn’t mean the activities and experiences are any less rewarding and fun. Campers still get to experience all the fun of sports, arts, friendship building, and learning.

Planning for Travel

A day camp means that it’s important to plan for travel to and from our campus. You can explore here and see our list of transportation options from towns and cities around North Andover. We also have extended day care for campers who are driven to and from camp.

Getting Ready for The Activities

Brooks School Summer Programs has a lot of activities for our campers.  Everything from archery and swimming to arts and crafts and tennis. We recommend exploring our activities pages and learning about everything that might happen on a typical day.

When it comes to getting ready and making sure you have everything, here are some great steps you can take to make sure you’re all set:

  1. Review the daily activities schedule
  2. See what Brooks School Summer Programs has planned on the special events calendar
  3. Read the Family Handbook

Following these first steps will help you and your camper prepare for the types of activities at camp, know what special dress-up days and special events are planned, and make sure you have everything you need.

Exploring Our Site

Exploring the Brooks School Summer Programs site can offer a wealth of information about all of our day camp programs and answer any questions you may have. Our Family Handbook section of the site has answers to many common questions. Additionally, you can explore our other available programs and see what might interest you for future session dates, and meet our trained staff.

Talking With Other Families

Our Facebook page makes it easy to reach out to other families to get the inside scoop on the upcoming sessions and see photos from camp. The Parent Portal is a great tool to manage your child’s registration. Here you can review your child’s registered sessions, add extended day or bus transportation, or submit a friend request.

Asking Questions

We always encourage our prospective campers and families to reach out to us if they have any specific questions. Our Contact Us page makes it easy to get in touch with camp staff, and we always make sure we get back to you with detailed answers to give you peace of mind.
